Joy To The Girl

From time to time, a book falls at your feet and when picked up from the floor of Barnes & Noble, it quite literally drags you to the cash register…sometimes kicking and screaming.    I have often resisted this powerful urge (mainly because I am cheap…I confess).  I beg of you…if you are inclined to resist these messages from God (or Source, Buddha, Universe, the freaking Beatles…whoever)…STOP immediately!!  Buy the book!

This “situation” which I will describe in more literal detail in my PS, happened to me last week at Barnes & Noble (or in Lori world…nirvana).  And…on a very tight budget, I heard a little voice in my head say, “Sold!”.  The book and “Barnes and Noble-men” were nice enough to offer an amazing sales price of $12.95.  I love a bargain!!

I know what you are thinking…

What is the book….?

Well, wait for it….close your eyes and hear the melody of your favorite song….and…

It is called “A Course In Miracles”.  It is not credited to any author.  The copyright is listed as :

“Compilation (insert that little copyright do-hickey which I don’t know how to type)2005 by New Christian church of Full Endeavor, Ltd.

I am currently on page 126, but I couldn’t hold out on you guys…I had to share.  Every non-fiction book I read changes me, it’s true…but, this book is simply revelatory!  Sorry to be so “ethereal” and all; but, I really mean it..DAMMIT!!  As you can see, it didn’t change my trademark irreverence.

So, I am about to shut this down for today, but, I want to talk about this book more.  I am going to blog about it for the foreseeable (thanks SpellCheck…didn’t know it had the ‘e’ behind the ‘r’) future; because:

  1. I can (and you can’t stop me)
  2. It’s freaking awesome….I mean it!!
  3. Because I love YOU and you will only benefit from this beautiful text
  4. The “Holy Spirit” made me do it…

K?  So, sorry I have been away for so long.  I wrote a book called “Building Better Believers: The How-To Parenting Guide To Raising Entrepreneurs, Innovators, and Visionaries”.  I obsessed over it…to put it mildly.  I completely detest multitasking; because God granted me with a one-track mind and I finally stopped fighting it.  Enough said?

Don’t misinterpret my absence for lack of love, laughter or words (not that you would..haha)…just a temporary shift in focus of which there will be more to come in the future.  Thanks for reading…tell a friend and leave a comment, will you?

Much Love and Laughter,

(PS)  I heard about the book from another book called “Spirit Junkie” by Gabrielle Bernstein (which I highly recommend).  Also, Marianne Williamson is a Course in Miracles interpreter.  I just love the visual image of the book dragging me better…don’t you?

(PPS)  If you want to buy MY book, which will also change your life…you can do it right here.  Also, close2bliss will be moving soon to my new website which is under construction (  I’ll be sure to send you the details when the move occurs..until then…See ya!!!!

Mother’s Day

Posted on

I mentioned on my last post that I was going to discuss my Mother’s Day Gift given to me by my beautiful Laney.  Well, first off, she created the most exquisite “bouquet of flowers” that consisted of a cut out of her hand print folded beautifully with a little yellow tissue paper in the center to look like a Calla Lilly.  I guess that’s what it was supposed to look like…my knowledge of flowers isn’t the best.  Anyway, three beautiful white flowers were mounted on popsicle sticks and place in a little terra cotta pot that she decorated with her own two hands.  The greatest thing about the plant is that I can’t kill it!  That is a miracle in and of itself.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t blessed with a green thumb or the desire to cultivate one.

I pledge to you, Laney, that I will cherish this potted plant always.  I will display it proudly in our home and I WILL NOT allow it get ruined under a pile of junk or shove it somewhere in a house cleaning rant.  It will be cherished always…until the flowers dry rot, of course.  Who knows, perhaps I’ll get the chance to embarrass you with it on your first date night.  Don’t get me wrong, it is nothing to be embarrassed about….unless you are a teenager, of course.

Part two of the gift was a questionnaire called “The Mother’s Day Fact Sheet”.  This is an edited version…check it out!

My mother’s name is Lori

She is 60 years old  (I’m actually 43 :()

She weighs 3 pounds. (I’ll tell you my diet tips later…)

I’d like to live with my mom for the rest of the days more years. (I’ll enjoy that while it lasts…)

My mother’s favorite T.V. show is American Idol (She knows me pretty well!)

I can tell when my mom is mad when she puts me in bed (Only occasionally true)

My mother deserves an award for hugs (That one brought a tear to my eye.)

Now, I am not so grateful about my daughter adding 17 years to my life.  Conversely, I am ever so happy that she reduced my weight by oh 100 pounds, give or take ;).  I also know that the day is coming when she will be eager to leave the nest.  I remember how sad my Mother was when I left the nest to go away to college; but, I returned for a while as many of us do.  And, I have made a resolution with myself that I will not whittle away the time worrying about the day when she flies away.  I will spend my time preparing her and strengthening her little wings.  Sure, I will be sad to see her go; but the other side of me will be so proud to watch her soar.  Interestingly enough, I know that our relationship will evolve into that beautiful friendship that I now have with my own mother.

What do you do with your children to prepare them for flight?  I would love to hear about it!!  Who knows, I might just write a book about it….

Much Love!!

PS:  A little science for you to think about…from the ages of 2-6, your child’s mind operates in a theta wave state.  This means that everything they observe goes into their subconscious mind.  The conscious mind actually isn’t even working at this point, everything bypasses straight into the subconscious.  They are highly creative and imaginative and can believe in magic and miracles during this stage.  Furthermore, the words and actions that they hear and see from all of us who have a hand in their upbringing go into the file cabinet of their psyche.  Make sure you are adding ‘files’ that will serve them well and help them reach great heights.  In other words, don’t fill their subconscious minds with nonsense that will lead to debilitating fears and erroneous beliefs .  I’ll tell you what I do.  I CONSCIOUSLY think about what I am going to say to Laney even if I am feeling impatient or angry.  I then structure my words and actions in such a way that the file I place in her cabinet is beneficial to her in the long run.  Think of it this way, do you want your child to lead a healthy and long life?  Based on research, their emotional state has a great effect on their physical health.  And, their emotional state will be a direct indication of the beliefs that are held in their subconscious minds.

PPS:  Oh, and if you are thinking that it is a lot of effort to control your words and actions…it isn’t.  When you practice it, it becomes second nature to you.  And, even if it is a great effort…isn’t is worth it?

Oh, and Laney when I receive my award for hugs, I’ll do it  With Arms Wide Open!!

The Law of Attraction

Posted on

I have a question for you.  Do you know what would happen to you if you stood on top of the Brooklyn Bridge and stepped off?  Of course, you do…you would get very, very wet.  You would fall squarely into the East River, right?  Why?  Because of gravity.  Basically, the law of gravity says that what goes up must come down.  And you don’t question it at all, do you?  I mean you don’t go around jumping off of high buildings or bridges or anything like that…do you?  Of course there are those of you renegades that jump out of airplanes or bungee jump or whatever.  I have to say, I will never understand the desire to do that; however, even you fools know what is going to happen.  You are coming back down to earth…hopefully with a fully functioning parachute or unbreakable bungee cord.  Yikes.

So…if you have no problem believing in the law of gravity, you should have an equally easy time believing in the law of attraction.  What the law of attraction, in its simplest form, means is that like attracts like.  When you focus on things (good or bad) you attract more of the same into your life.  Have you ever heard people say, “When it rains, it pours.”?  Well, there you have it.  Conversely, have you ever observed people that just seemed to do no wrong…they were on a roll as they say.  Again, the law of attraction in action.

Going forward, I am going to assume you get it.  I will not debate you on the issue any further; I just want to get right to it.  Whatever you focus your thoughts and most importantly your feelings on is what you will attract into your life.  Now, it is not going to fall into your lap effortlessly…I don’t think ;).  What will happen is you will start to get little nudges or inspirations.  These inspirations will lead you to the path of the outcome that you desire…every time!!  You think it.  You imagine how it feels to have it already.  You become charged like a magnet to it.  You act on the impulses that you receive and Voila!!  That’s how it works.

Now, you have to start today consciously controlling your mind and your thoughts.  I know it might sound exhausting; but I promise you it will become second nature to you.  Any time you have an errant thought that is not in alignment with your desired outcome, shift your thinking.  Suppose you find yourself worrying about paying the mortgage…stop…breathe…think about how cool it feels to own the house outright…no mortgage.

Okay, here’s the first thing to do.  Write down the way your life will be when you achieve your greatest dreams.  Write it in present tense.  As Bob Proctor said in “The Secret” start with the words, “I am so happy and grateful, now that…”  You need only be clear about the outcome.  Write in detail how much money you will have, what kind of house you will live in, what kind of car you will drive, what kind of philanthropic interests you will contribute to, etc.  Then, every morning and every night read it aloud to yourself.  Don’t worry about being silly…it’s not!  Then close your eyes and imagine the feeling of the achievement of what it is you want.  Understand that you do not have to justify any of it to anyone.  Your dream is what YOU want.  And mark my words, every time you open your eyes after this visualization/meditation process, you will have an idea.  Act on it.  You may be inspired to write something or call someone or whatever, but do it.  It is the universe showing you how to achieve what you just said you wanted.  So, in the wonderfully wise words of Nike…Just do it!!

You know one of the most amazing examples of this law is The Wright Brothers.  These two guys believed that you could fly a heavy plane in the air using a motor and it would take you anywhere you wanted to go.   They built models, gliders and prototypes out the wazoo and guess what…they made it happen when few believed it was even possible.  Now, we fly all over creation….effortlessly.  Hell, we propel rockets into space.  All of this started with just a little seed of an idea.  Thoughts become things!!

Much Love!!

PS  The visionaries that talk about the Law of Attraction talk a lot about your vibration.  In other words how you attract things based on your internal feelings.  Try this exercise.  Next time you have to go to the market or Target or wherever, go in feeling closed off (anxious or unhappy or worried) and observe how the people react to you.  You will find they will not make eye contact with you.  They seem to be almost repelled by you.  Then imagine something that makes you feel happy…really happy.  Then smile and enjoy the moment as you walk through the store and what you will find is that people will be drawn to you.  They will smile at you and say hello.  Make eye contact with as many people as you pass all the while feeling that inner light and you will understand how this vibrational energy works.  Your internal emotions and feelings send out a vibration and that vibration attracts like people or situations.  What you focus on and feel the strongest about is what the universe thinks you want more of and it will give it to you.  Unfortunately, we often focus on the lack or the worry or the practical urgencies of life.  I do it too; but, I am changing and we can do this together!

So What!!

Over the course of the upcoming weeks I am going to do a little restructuring here at close2bliss.  Don’t worry, I am still going to share stories with you; but I am going to systemize a couple of things too.  I want to help you learn some of the techniques I have learned that have changed my life…for the better.

I remember the pivotal moment in my life.  It was the fall of 2005 and it was the first time I was introduced to the audio tapes of “The Secret”.  On a 4 hour road trip to the beach, my husband and I listened to the 4 disc series.  I simply cannot put into words the revelation that came over me.  I know you might find this hard to believe, but I had never heard any of this before.  It truly was a secret to me.

The most important concept that I started to implement in my life was the “accountability factor”.  I realized at that moment that everything (good and bad) that had happened in my life was MY responsibility.  Now I don’t mean that I caused all of the hardships that I had; or that you caused yours.  However, many of our struggles, if we are truly honest with ourselves, were self imposed.  And, the   power we give to those things is our choice!  It is not debatable and you know it.  Besides, if you are blaming other people or situations, how’s that working for you?  Don’t bother replying…I know the answer already!

So, here’s what…I want you to try a little game I play called…SO WHAT!!  Take out a sheet of paper and write down all the things that have happened to you in your life.  I’ll give you a random example:

  • My parents didn’t get along
  • My parent was an alcoholic
  • My parents abused/neglected me
  • Joe Blow broke my heart
  • My sister peed in my corn flakes
  • My brother made me sit in an ant bed
  • My dog died when I was 7
  • I failed the 3rd grade
  • We were poor
  • We were rich
  • blah…blah…blah

Then I want you to take each one of these issues and think about how it affects you NOW!  Talk out loud…wait until you’re alone in the house or in the car or wherever.  Then in all caps and huge letters write across the list…SO WHAT!!!  Then take the paper and shred it or burn it or toss it in the garbage pail.  If you live near the ocean, put it in a bottle and throw it out to sea.  It doesn’t have to control you now.  If you let it, you have no one to blame but yourself.  Everyone has a story to tell.  Some of the stories are sad.  But these chapters in YOUR book existED…past tense.  You can’t rewrite history.  But, you can turn the page and write a new chapter.  That is what happy, healthy, wealthy and wise people do, they move on.  You can too!!

Now, tomorrow I am going to recap American Idol.  After that, though, I am going to delve a little deeper into the law of attraction and how to use it in your life.  I don’t care if you don’t believe it now… you will.  You see it is also not debatable, it is a law just like gravity and the sooner you embrace it and leverage it, the better your life will be and that is what I want for you!!  Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think and what you need.

Much Love!!

PS  I realize that some of you reading this may have some really serious scars from your past.  The “so what” exercise may not be enough to really heal those; so, seek counseling or hypnosis or whatever works for you to let it go.  Here in this space, we are going to focus our energy on today and your future.  Whatever work you need to do to reconcile your past…DO IT so that you can focus on making your life what you want it to be, okay?  Not for me…do it for yourself.

Enjoy the music…So What

Soulshine…It’s Better Than Sunshine

Twenty one years ago, two old friends were sitting across from each other having breakfast.  Both guys were key note speakers who had met on the “circuit” of speaking engagements.  I am going to refer to them as John and Mike.  Mike asked John what was going on and he said that he was working on a book.

[John was inspired by a recent attendee at a speech he delivered to a group of educators.  One of the audience members came up after the speech and asked about one of the stories he told.  She said she would really love to share that story with someone and wondered if it were published in a book somewhere.  John told her that it was just a story he had heard and used frequently in his motivational speeches.  On the plane flying home that day, John started writing down the anecdotes that he shared with his audiences and when he was done; he had amassed 68 stories.]

Mike loved the idea and told John that he wanted to co-author the book.  John was taken aback.  He was like, why would I let you join me in this when I have almost completed the book.  Mike retorted that the reason was because John had stolen most of those stories from him.  He also said he had a lot more that he had not shared yet.  John thought about it and told Mike that if he would write 32 stories to add to the 68 already penned stories he would agree to the joint venture.  Mike did exactly that.

John and Mike set out to sell the book.  They pounded the publisher pavement for a solid year.  They were rejected by over  120 publishers (I have heard two accounts 123 and 144 turn downs…not sure which is accurate).  Their agent gave up and said it couldn’t be sold.  Do you think J & M gave up?  No way!!  They took it to a bookseller’s convention in Anaheim, CA.  At the convention, they visited nearly 4000 (yes, thousand) booths.  Finally, a small publisher out of Florida said the magic word….YES!!

One year after this fateful meeting, the book hit the shelves in July 1993.  John and Mike asked the publishing exec what his projections were.  The exec thought they would be lucky to sell 20,000 books.  When J & M told him that they expected to sell 150,000 copies by Christmas ’93 (6 months time) and 1.5 million books by Christmas ’94 the exec laughed in their faces…out loud!!

By Christmas of that year they had sold 135,000 copies.  In a year and a half, they had sold 1.3 million copies & the book made the New York Times Bestseller List (September ’94).  The publisher continued to laugh…..all the way to the bank!!

The books did not fly off the shelves magically.  John & Mike promoted the hell out of them.  They committed to doing 5 actions every day to sell the books.  They gave away free signed copies, spoke at church events, wrote letters to magazine publishers.  The list goes on and on.  You see, a psychic told J & M that if you took 5 swings at a tree, no matter how large, at some point….that tree WOULD  fall.  Boy did that ‘rule of 5’s’ pay off for John and MIke.

The first book went on to sell 8 1/2 million copies in the US; and, 10 million copies around the world.  Have you guessed it yet?  Does a little title called “Chicken Soup for the Soul” ring any bells?  Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen have gone on to write 200 titles in the series (w/some very esteemed co-writers, I might add).  It turned into a BILLION dollar brand.  100 million books (& counting) sold in 54 languages!!  All because they had an idea that they believed in; and they never gave up.  Through their tenacity an entirely new “literary genre” was created.  Oh, and they made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most titles on the NY Times Bestseller List.  Powerful stuff, wouldn’t you agree?

Much Love!!

PS  I love this song…It’s called “Soulshine” by The Allmann Brothers Band.  I have personally seen them in concert several times and they are amazing!!

Idol Worship….Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For YOU?

Posted on

Okay, last week was Motown…my first musical love and last night was Elton John!!!  In case you don’t remember, he is my selection for ‘tunes to take when stranded on a desert island’.  Those songs written by Bernie Taupin and Elton John just speak to me in a way that music is supposed to.  Before I get into the American Idol stats I want to first give you a little trivia on the pair.  Hope you don’t mind.  First off, did you know Elton’s real name is Reginald Kenneth Dwight?  He changed it to Elton Hercules John in homage to two of his co-members in Bluesology, Elton Dean and Long John Baldrey.  Bluesology served as a backing band for a number of R&B groups, most notably The Isley Brothers and Patti LaBelle.  He was known as Reggie.  Patti LaBelle still refers to him that way.  Of course, now he is Sir Elton Hercules John.  He was knighted by the queen on February 24, 1998.  He also resides part time in Atlanta, GA!!  We Georgia natives love that fact!!

I heard Elton in an interview once when he appeared on “Inside the Actors Studio” with James Lipton on BravoTV (aka best network on TV).  He talked about the partnership with Bernie Taupin which began in 1967 (an amazing year…my birth).  This is how it went down.  Bernie would go into a room alone and write the poem that would become the lyrics of these amazing songs.  He would then bring the finished product to Elton and he would sit at the piano and turn it into a song.  He said on average it took no more than 30 minutes to complete the melody and the arrangement.  He even went on to say that if he went past the 30 minute mark he would just walk away from it.  To prove his point, he looked out into the audience which consisted of students of the Actors Studio and said bring me a passage in a book right now and I will sit at the piano and turn it into a song while you watch.  (There was an amazing grand piano set up on the stage.)  And, he did it in about 5 minutes.  Oh, and the song was good!!  He has sold over 250 million records in a career that spans 4 decades.  He has won 6 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.  Surprisingly enough, that was his first year of eligibility.  I am shocked by that fact.  I mean, hello…R&R Hall of fame!  What took you so long?

You know through the years there has been a lot of turmoil in Elton’s life.  All of it was self imposed due to substance abuse issues, etc.  Our turmoil is always self imposed; but, he is such an inspiration.  He overcame his own demons, he achieved more than he probably ever dreamed that he would.  He lives his life the way he wants to.  He gives back to the charities that mean the most to him especially his AIDS foundation.  The millions of dollars that he has contributed and raised has funded research that has saved countless lives and continues to do so.  He is happily married now and recently adopted a baby boy.  He is 64 years old and I just realized I missed his birthday (March 25th).  I guess the b-day party invitation got lost in the mail.

Okay, cut to Idol.  I was overwhelmingly thrilled at the performances last night!!  I got goose bumps on top of goose bumps several times over the course of that 90 minutes.  And surprisingly enough, I actually am awarding some new folks today with my three top prizes: Favorite Performance, Original Naturability, & Goose Bump Award.  My ultimate favorite performance last night goes to Haley Reinhart who sang “Bennie and the Jets”.  I love the song and I thought she really brought something unique to it.  I love the rasp in her voice.  I’ve always been drawn to Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks for the same reason.  Haley also has to get my Original Naturability award for last night because she took that song to a new place and I admire that.  So there it is, two down, one to go!  The “Goose Bump” award who I have given to Jacob Lusk two weeks running has to go to Pia Toscano.  Last week, Randy told her not to sing another ballad but she didn’t listen.  She sang “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and I nearly cried.  She didn’t stray too far away from the original arrangement of the song because it is hard to tinker with perfection; and the arrangement of that song is perfect!  But, she inflected on the notes in an amazing and surprising way and I’m kinda speechless over it.  You know Randy said he heard a little Mariah and a little Whitney in there; but, I totally disagree.  I think what she had was a whole lot of “Pia” in her voice.  She will be a legend…mark my words.  Furthermore, I am relatively certain at this point that she will be your next American Idol.  Sorry, James, I still love you, my little rock and roller!!

You know I don’t know if anyone can relate to this or not; but, when I watch this show it is like an other-worldly experience for me.  I really get inspired by it.  And on nights like last night I felt like I was literally transported to a concert with seasoned professionals playing for me.   Oh, and their average age is 20!!  Amazing!!  The talent and the poise and the drive of these kids is something to really respect.  I am so grateful to be on this ride with them and so excited about their future in the music business.  I just believe the benefit of music is so overlooked these days.  I mean, it is more than just a beat to be danced to.  The music is the accompaniment of all of our memories.  You know, Stevie Nicks wrote a song for Joe Walsh (Eagles) when Joe lost his young daughter in 1974 in a car crash when she was being driven to nursery school.  The song is called “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You”; and in that song there is a lyric that says, “In all your darkest hours, have you ever heard me sing?” I think that says it all, because in my darkest (& brightest) hours I have heard a lot of people sing and the light came on again (or it shines brighter).  Does your light come on when you hear someone sing?  I know the answer is yes…you don’t even have to say it!

So without further adieu, I am going to link you to two songs today.  One by Elton John and it is called “I Feel Like A Bullet”.  It wasn’t one of his most commercially successful songs; but many of us think it is one of his best.  I chose it to introduce you to one of his greats that you may not have heard before.  You will love it!!  The second link is to the Stevie Nicks song that I just referenced………..hope you enjoy!!

Much Love!!

The Story Of The Golden Buddha

Posted on

Over three hundred years ago, the Burmese army planned an attack to invade Thailand.  At the time, the country was known as Siam.  The Siamese monks were in possession of the most amazing Buddha statue.  The statue is over 10 feet tall and weighs in excess of 2 1/2 tons.  It is made of solid gold and is valued today at $200 MILLION dollars.  The monks were determined to protect the shrine that meant so much to them.  While it was priceless to them for reasons that transcend money; they knew that the Burmese would stop at nothing to steal the statue because of its tremendous monetary value.  They covered the Golden Buddha with 12 inches of clay  knowing that the warriors would totally ignore it and think it worthless.  Sadly, the monks were slaughtered in the invasion and the secret of the Golden Buddha stayed hidden for two centuries.  The Buddha itself though, remained safe.

In the mid 50’s, a monastery was to be relocated to make room for a new highway.  The monks arranged for a crane to come and move the “Clay” Buddha to its new location.  When the crane started to lift the statue, it was much heavier than expected and it began to crack.  Wanting to protect the priceless shrine, the monks lowered it back down and decided to wait until the next day to bring more powerful equipment.  To add insult to injury, the rains came so the monks lovingly covered the statue with tarps to keep the moisture away.  In the dark of night, the head monk took his flashlight and went out to make sure the Buddha was adequately covered.  When the light of the flashlight shone into the crack of the clay, he saw a glimmer…a reflection of something underneath that shroud of clay.  He immediately started to carefully chisel away shards of clay to find that the glimmer grew brighter.  Hours later, and all the clay removed…he was in the presence of a Buddha made of solid gold.  It now resides in The Temple of the Golden Buddha in Bangkok, Thailand.  Every year, millions of people go there to see this magnificent work of art and to worship at his feet.  And to think, it may never have been uncovered…

This story touched me in so many ways; but, I think it is such a representation of what we do to our children when raising them.  They come into this world as little miracles.  They are creative and true to themselves.  They believe in magic and dreams; and in an effort to protect them, we start layering on all these protective coatings.   We instill fear in them where there is none.  We instill doubt where there shouldn’t be because we don’t ever want them to be disappointed.  We share all these silly little superstitions about broken mirrors, black cats, walking under ladders, eating peas on New Years Day, etc…  We do it out of unconditional love and the desire to make their lives better.  But, in the long run these ideas that we instill in them turn into self imposed limitations in their subconscious minds.  They become part of their auto-pilot system that can steer them away from their true destiny.  They block them from achieving their full potential.   Furthermore, the removal of these limits from the subconscious mind is difficult.  Mostly, the recognition that they are even there can go unnoticed for years.  Think about it… the gold underneath that Buddha stayed hidden for centuries!!!!

I remember once when I was very young and I was playing jacks with my dear cousin, Ginger.  My grandmother walked into the room and said, “Please be careful to pick up all those jacks because if you step on one it will kill you!”  Now, she just meant that it would be painful;  but, my little mind went into a tailspin.  I was terrified to get up for fear that my life was in jeopardy!  I scoured that floor to make sure I had gotten up every single jack and when I put them away I never took them back out again.  My jack playing career was officially over!  It didn’t matter about the jacks.  I never really enjoyed playing with them that much anyway.  The point is we have to be mindful of what we say to our small children especially in the first 6 years of their lives.  Studies have shown that the belief system of children and primarily the subconscious mindset is developed  in these formative years. We need to do everything in our power to make sure that what we say and do in their presence will lead to the ideas that will serve them well in their adult lives.  That is how we protect our children!!

In closing, I want to say this to you.  If you or someone you love needs a little help to chisel away the clay so that the gold can shine then you don’t have to look very far.  There are amazing resources that are free to use that work wonders to cure the diseases growing in our subconscious minds.  There are endless amounts of guided meditations available on You Tube.  I love the ones from Kelly Howell.  She has different ones for different issues (i.e. Anxiety Relief, Creating Success, Overcoming Fear, etc.).  There are endless websites with positive affirmations available.  There are amazing and enlightened people sharing valuable insights through newsletters and blogs and books and movies and videos.  The list goes on and on.  I have mentioned many of the names before.  I recently “met” a person that has inspired me greatly and his name is Ryan Biddulph.  Google him and check out his RB’s keys, his blog and his cash gifting program (The People’s Program).  He is a person who believes in giving back and paying it forward and that is the kind of example we should all be following.

Much Love!!

PS  Thank you Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen for sharing the “Golden Buddha” story.  They published it in “Chicken Soup for the Soul” and have spoken about it  many times.  I first heard about it from Jack.

PPS  Imagine all the dreams coming true, imagine our children free from irrational fears, imagine them realizing their true passion and living it from a young age.  You may say I’m a dreamer……but I’m not the only one!!  John Lennon was one, too.  Hope you enjoy “Imagine”…….
