Hello guys! My name is Lori Hamilton. That is NOT Laura, Laurie, or Lora….it is Lori (rhymes with story). Although I have, do and will answer to the others, just wanted you to know what the correct pronunciation is. I was raised in a very small town in middle Georgia called Hawkinsville. The population is just north or just south of 10,000 people (not sure which). There was a time when there were two grocery stores but now the only game in town is Harvey’s. I am so delighted and proud to call Hawkinsville home. It truly was a wonderful place to grow up. Having said that I don’t expect I will ever actually live there again. Through the course of the last 20 years I have lived in Athens, GA (Go Dawgs), Macon, GA, Albany, Ga and now am thrilled to call Columbus, GA home. Yes, I have grown spoiled to the trappings of a larger city and I simply need more than one grocery store to choose from.
I was born in November of 1967 (the 29th to be exact should you want to send gifts/cards). I was raised a Southern Baptist and while I no longer go to church regularly (much to my MaMa’s dismay) I believe wholeheartedly in God. Don’t misunderstand me here, this is not going to be a religious blog; but from time to time you will hear me give a shout out to the big guy because I love him and am grateful for all that he has given me. Don’t be offended if you believe in something else, it matters not to me. I embrace everyone’s differences and I hope you will return the favor.
Later on I have a post planned that will give you a little more insight into my past; but for now I want to share with you my present. I am a wife to an amazing man named Ed. He is the love of my life and at times the bane of my existence. He is most assuredly the most intelligent man I know (IQ over 140). He is gorgeous, patient, kind, funny and completely sexy…albeit a little whiny at times. I married him at the tender young age of 38 and I would do it again in a heart beat. You will read about him a lot in the future; so stay tuned.
I am a mother to the most rocking 4 year old on the planet and her name is Laney. I also had her at the tender young age of 38. Okay, stop doing the math…yes it was a shotgun wedding. The truth of the matter is that my husband and I had been together for years prior to the pregnancy and we felt married. We talked about getting married. We were engaged so the actual ceremony was just a technicality. He was divorced and I was never in a rush to marry but we were committed!!! Enough said…back to Laney. She is the greatest gift a girl could ever receive. The best thing about her is that she thinks I am the most amazing creature on earth. She brings out the best version of me!! As I say to her daily, “Laney, thank you for loving me!”
I have three totally phenomenal step children..Brennen (M/16), Maggie (F/14), and Katie (F/10). They live about 80 miles away so we see them every other weekend for the most part. They are getting to an age where they frequently have a better offer so the visits are getting fewer and farther between :(! At any rate, I love them beyond all boundaries. They really seem rather perfect….are we being bamboozled? I am holding my breath that the teenage mischief and angst stays at the minimum level we are seeing right now. I know…I know….stop kidding yourself Lori!
We have a pet named “Midnight”. She is a beautiful black cat that actually belongs to my amazing neighbors…Mike and Yanci. Folks, if you can get a pet that is fed and cared for by someone else…DO IT!! In all truth, this cat is in love with Laney and Ed. She kind of likes me too; but I get the feeling that she senses I am more of a dog lover. In the not too distant future I hope to be sharing a blog post with you about our “new dog”; but for now we have Midnight.
Okay, this is about to be a wrap but I can’t end it without telling you this. I have succeeded in my life and I have failed. I am scared and insecure but I am also fearless and confident. I have been a stay at home Mom for the better part of the last 5 years and I am on a mission to build an amazing career. I will save the deets for future posts. Let’s just say for this sheltered little small town girl that always tried so hard to color inside the lines I am going outside the box on this one. I hope you enjoy the ride…I know I will.
Oh, one last thing…please overlook the site. I know it is not pretty yet but I am a newbie and I am working on it. Soon I will have pictures and creative stuff for you to look at; but, for now you will just have to enjoy on the words. Thanks for understanding!!
